Padam Rai

Padam was born in the far east of Nepal, in the shadow of Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain on earth. He comes from the Rai community, whose sons have served with distinction in the British Gurkha regiments for generations, famed for their loyalty and toughness. Padam carries that same character on the trail. He started as a porter more than 35 years ago and earned his way up, step by step, to become one of our most requested guides. He has now been with Trekking Team for over 20 years. Strong at altitude, endlessly patient, and the first to help when someone is struggling, he is exactly who you want beside you on a hard day.
