Detailed itinerary
The Tour
08:00 AM | Sunrise at the Monkey Temple (Swayambhunath) Start your morning where the city begins. Climbing the stairs to Swayambhunath isn’t just about the view; it’s about the atmosphere. You’ll be surrounded by the low hum of morning chants and the spinning of prayer wheels. It’s the perfect spot to see the valley wake up before the traffic takes over. 09:30 AM | A Local’s Breakfast in Thamel & Kaldhara After heading down from the hill, skip the hotel buffet. You haven’t truly experienced a Kathmandu morning until you’ve had Sel Roti. The Vibe: Look for a small, steaming tea stall. Grab a crispy, ring-shaped rice bread (Sel Roti) and dunk it into a glass of hot, sweet Masala Tea. 10:30 AM | Getting Lost in Asan & Indra Chowk Walk through the sensory explosion of Asan Tole. This is the city’s oldest marketplace, and it’s gloriously chaotic. You’ll find everything from dried chillies to wedding brassware. The Pitstop: You cannot pass Indra Chowk without stopping for a Lassi. It’s thick, creamy, and topped with a generous handful of raisins and nuts. It’s basically a meal in a glass. Street Bites: Do not say no to some freshly made potato chips and Samosas. 12:30 PM | Living History at Kathmandu Durbar Square Step into the heart of the old kingdom. Explore the intricate woodcarvings of the ancient palaces and catch a glimpse of the Kumari Ghar, the residence of the Living Goddess. 01:30 PM | The Ultimate Newari Lunch Newari cuisine is the culinary backbone of the valley. Where: We will be tasting all sorts of Newari cuisines in a place where only the locals go. What to order: You have to try Samay Baji. It’s a massive ceremonial platter featuring beaten rice, smoked meat, and lentil patties. If you want something lighter, go for Chatamari—often called “Newari Pizza,” it’s a thin rice crepe with savory toppings. 03:00 PM | Peace & Pilgrims at Boudhanath Head to the massive white dome of Boudhanath Stupa, the center of Tibetan culture in Nepal. Join the locals in the kora (walking clockwise around the stupa) and feel the shift in energy—it’s much calmer here. Snack Time: Grab a seat at a rooftop cafe. Try some Tibetan Khapse (crunchy biscuits) with Butter Tea. Pro Tip: If you’re still hungry, find a small shop in the outer circle serving Laphing. These spicy, cold mung bean noodles are a cult favorite for a reason. 05:30 PM | The Evening Aarti at Pashupatinath As the sun sets, we head towards the bank of the holy Bagmati River, witnessing one of the most holiest Hindu pilgrimage site “Pashupatinath Temple”. 07:30 PM | A Farewell Feast The Traditional Route: We will not only eat but also learn the process of cooking the national dish of Nepal, “Dal Bhat”, in a local Homestay, where a local family will teach you how to cook. This experience will be the highlight of this tour. Then we will drop you off at your destination. If you feel like staying and experiencing the Nepali lifestyle with a Nepali family, then you have the option to stay in the homestay and learn more about the culture and lifestyle of the family.
